This year's American Music Awards showed the various talents and how they were able to shine in their own way without outshining the others. Among the long list of performers, there were noticeably a few that gave an outstanding performance worthy of a standing ovation from the audience.

In the line-up with one of the show stopping performances was TLC. The group paid tribute to "Left-Eye" as Lil' Mama rapped her part in their chart topping song "Waterfalls." It was great to see the girls back and how they were able to exude the 90's vibe into their performance, a worthy moment to watch.

The best part of the show was Barbadian beauty Rihanna singing "Diamonds" and then accepting the "Icon Award" as it was presented to her by her mother. The singer looked lavish and certainly brought the Caribbean vibe unto the stage.

Nothing could however beat the performance of R. Kelly and Lady Gaga as the performed "Do what you Want" with an American themed theatrical satire on JFK and Marilyn Monroe's secret affair. It showed everything that Lady Gaga wanted to tell her fans and most especially her haters. The mother monster was able to dance along with her dancers and sing her heart out while R. Kelly gave that awesome soul/R+B vibe.

The "Applause" singer had a strong comeback after people had been writing rather harsh things about the singer; Gaga made her comeback as one of the night's finest performances complete with a bit of acting, all out singing (superb singing by both singers) and dancing. The performance was scandalous, intriguing, fun and all too raw that made the crowd love it.

Many have given their opinion on the performance saying that the tandem was a bit creepy but it was a good kind of "Creepy" and it was one of the night's best performances by R. Kelly and Lady Gaga. We guess Kanye West and Kim Kardashian should learn a little from these two in making "awkward" turn into "great" instead of just plan "awkward" like they did in Kanye's "Bound 2" video.
