As the ongoing World Cup tournament in Brazil moves toward its third week, the international soccer games continue to be the topic in universities, pubs, offices and of course, sports clubs.

Thanks to modern technology such as live streaming, pay-per-view, online publishing and of course, the ever reliable radio, soccer fans are updated on the latest about the games.

They don't have to wait for the next day or even a few hours later to read about the results of the matches since technology has allowed live coverages of events, ranging from sports tournaments to political events such as elections or the swearing in of a new leader or update on a catastrophe.

For Monday, June 23, among the anticipated matches to watch is that of the US vs Portugal for Group G games. The match is being aired live on radio by several stations such as ESPN Radio and ESPN TV. The matchup begins 6 pm ET from the Arena Amazonia in Manaus, featuring football greats such as Cristiano Ronaldo in action.

BBC Radio 5 live offers 24 days of live coverage and 61 live match commentaries. Live coverage on Monday, June 23, include Australia vs Spain, The Netherlands vs Chile, Cameroon vs Brazil and Croatia vs Mexico.

One of the most interesting among these four matches is that of the Chilean vs Dutch team because of the offer of Chilean porn actress Marlen Doll of 24-hour sex marathon sessions with strangers if Chile would win the game.

Providing BBC and other media companies the technology to broadcast their radio programmes over the air waves is the Audioboom Group PLC (LSE: BOOM.L), which offer apps, embeds and custom publisher solutions.

The London-based publicly listed company is known for its social media platform that audio producers use to record either live or from the studio, upload and share audio by syndication and social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook.

Besides BBC, Audioboom's other clients include Sky Sports, Bauer, Absolute Radio, The Guardian, Universal, Aljazeera, Polydor, The Telegraph and Oxfam.

From the initial 19 channels during the platform's launch in March 2013, Audioboom currently has about 2,000 content channels, disclosed Rob Proctor, CEO of Audioboom, which so far has 2.5 million registered users and 12 to 13 million monthly active users across platforms.

While TV broadcast would likely be the choice of many soccer fans in following up the latest news about the World Cup games, not all people have the opportunity to watch live streaming. These includes motorists who may be distracted if they turn on small TV sets while driving but would appreciate radio broadcasts of the games.

Also on the list are students who opt to follow the radio broadcast on their mobile phones while waiting for the next class, people on the go and office workers whose employers may frown on watching the games on TV or computers during office hours but would not mind staff listening to updates via radio broadcast picked up on mobile phones.
