There is no doubt that Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams had a remarkable 2013 season. Who do you think did better between the two?

Rafael Nadal

Nadal has been the leading player for the most of 2013. He was able to outshine and go beyond his most well-known adversaries such as the likes of Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer. In 2013, Nadal's record is 75 wins and 7 losses.

Despite the fact that the Spanish athlete did not have a smooth start in the beginning of the season due to his knee injury, he was able to take home the Grand Slam title, including the U.S. Open as well as the French Open. He was able to make a massive return much to the delight of his million followers and fellow athletes alike. Indisputably, Nadal is one of the most disciplined players in the tennis court. His discipline has pretty much helped him earned great success during the 2013 season.

Not all players who came from months-long injury are able to manage a victorious comeback. Nadal, on the other hand, simply waited until he was ready and he has enough strength to play. Of course, let us not forget his optimistic outlook too. He plays with utmost concentration, regardless if he's winning or not.

As much as people are excited to see him back in the tennis court, Nadal seems to be enjoying his little vacation off-season. He will play in a charity poker tournament in Prague.

"Will I beat Ronaldo tomorrow in the charity poker tournament in Prague," he wrote on Twitter. "The funds raised will go to #THGP," he added.

Serena Williams

It shouldn't really be hard to evaluate Serena Williams's 2013 season.

She was outstanding, no question asked. Even Williams thought she did great during the 2013 season.

"I can't say it's the best season, I can't say it's not the best," she was once quoted saying. She has a record of 78 wins and 0 losses. She has won two Grand Slams. Overall, Williams has played more and also won more than she ever did before.

"Every tournament I play, I play to win," Serena told ESPN. She explained that she has always had the desire to win in every tournament, but during the 2013 season, she felt it was different. She enjoyed so much going out there and playing tennis.

Williams's attitude on the tennis court, some critics say, is better than ever. She has the reputation of winning major events effortlessly. Much like Nadal, Williams can really be a dominant player on the court. She had a 34-match winning streak during the 2013 season, her personal best so far. She has won 11 titles, which is 3 times more than her previous best of 8 titles in 2002.

Williams is currently enjoying some time off the court, but she is still doing some trainings too. She is expected to appear in a new commercial for "Beats by Dr. Dre."

All in all, Nadal and Williams are two of the greatest tennis players of our generation. Come the 2014 season, we should expect amazing performances from Nadal and Williams, who both claim the top position in the world rankings.
