Rafael Nadal Splurges on Men’s Shoes Worth $10K; Enjoys Holiday Trip With GF and Pals Before Heading to Toronto for the Rogers Cup

For a wealthy sports personality like Rafael Nadal, it is okay to splurge on luxurious things. Apparently, a shoe manufacturer called Corthay makes "Bespoke" shoes for Nadal that reportedly costs as much as $10,000 a pair.

According to Bloomberg, the shoemaker was founded in 1990 by Pierre Corthay. It has six stores in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Some of Corthay's footwear were also being sold to retailers such as Saks Inc. In addition to Nadal, the shoemaker's other celebrity clients include Clive Owen and Cate Blanchett.

It seems that Corthay's business is more than just designing luxurious shoes. As stated on its Web site, the shoes are made with the precise proportions of the client's foot taking a few other personal requests in consideration. What is more, the shoes are crafted by hand. This could explain why a pair costs as much as $10,000.

In 2013, Nadal made headlines when he was seen sporting a watch during a tennis match. It wasn't simply a watch, but a high-end tech watch with a price tag of $690,000.

Meanwhile, Nadal enjoyed a little holiday trip before he heads to Toronto for the Rogers Cup. As seen on his Facebook account, the Spanish athlete posted a picture of him and his girlfriend Xisca Perello and some of his good old pals.

"Wonderful and relaxing day with good friends," Nadal captioned the photo.

The Rogers Cup tournament is a part of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour Masters 1000. The men's event will be held at Rexall Hall Centre in Toronto. The tournament will run from Aug. 2 to Aug. 10.
