The biopic on India's legendary athlete Milkha Singh, "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag," had an excellent second weekend at the Indian Box Office. The movie collected more than the opening weekend collection of new releases, "D-Day"and "Ramaiya Vastavaiya."

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the Milkha Singh's biopic collected 17.50 crore (INR) in its second weekend, taking its total to 71.29 crore (INR).

The movie "D-Day," released on Friday, started on a dull note. It picked-up slightly on Saturday and Sunday but failed to gain momentum, collecting a total of 12.90 crore (INR) in its opening weekend. In comparison to "D-Day," "Ramaiya Vastavaiya" has done a decent business in its opening weekend, collecting 14.70 million (INR) at the Indian Box Office.

Koimoi.com reported that "Ramaiya Vastavaiya" on its first day "began mildly with a collection of 4.10 crore but over its first Saturday and Sunday it managed to pick up quite well!"

The movie has managed to collect an estimated 3 crore (INR) on its first Monday.

"Ramaiya Vastavaiya" is the Bollywood launch vehicle of Girish Kumar, Bollywood producer Kumar Taurani's son. Directed by Prabhu Deva, the romantic comedy also stars Kamal Hassan's daughter Shruti Hassan and is a remake of Telugu movie "Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana," which was inspired by Salman Khan and Bhagyashree starrer "Maine Pyaar Kiya."

Crime-thriller "D-Day," co-produced by DAR motion pictures and Emmay Entertainment Private Ltd, stars Arjun Rampal, Rishi Kapoor, Irrfan Khan, Shruti Haasan, Sandeep Kulkarni and Huma Qureshi in the lead roles. Nikhil Advani of "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" fame has directed the movie.

"Bhaag Milkha Bhaag"may become one of the top grossers of 2013, with Karnataka also considering providing entertainment tax exemption to the movie.

The government of Maharashtra recently granted tax exemption to the movie.

"We anticipated a tax exemption. But the fact that the Maharashtra government acted so speedily is very heartening. The film would now be accessible to those middle-class Indians who cannot afford the ticket prices at multiplexes. That thought makes me very happy," Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, director of "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag," told the Indian media.

"I'm extremely grateful to the Chief Minister and Revenue Minister of Maharashtra for their support in this regard. They've ensured that Milkhaji's inspiring life would now be accessible to many more citizens in Maharashtra," Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar, who played the role of ace sprinter Milkha Singh, said to media.
