‘Rap God’ rapper Eminem beats ‘Sorry’ singer Justin Bieber on YouTube
Marshall Mathers III is now the fifth artist with the most YouTube subscribers. The “Rap God” rapper, professionally known as Eminem, has yet to beat One Direction, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift to become the most followed artist on YouTube.
On Dec. 14, Monday, Eminem became one of the only five artists who have more than 17 million subscribers on their YouTube VEVO channel, according to DJ Booth. Both One Direction and Rihanna have more than 18 million subscribers while Perry has 17.4 million and Swift has 17.3 million.
Among all rappers, it appears that Eminem is by far the most famous one on YouTube. Next to him is Drake with 4.1 million subscribers, Swift’s “Bad Blood” collaborator Kendrick Lamar with 1.5 million and J. Cole with 1.06 million subscribers.
This also means Eminem is more famous than Justin Bieber on YouTube. The “Sorry” singer currently has 16.2 million subscribers on his YouTube VEVO channel.
While fans are still waiting for Eminem to release his ninth studio album, Bieber recently released his fourth studio album titled “Purpose” on Nov. 13. The Canadian pop star did not release an album in 2013 and 2014 and went into hiatus before releasing the album.
Among the most watched YouTube video, the music video of Bieber’s 2010 hit “Baby” featuring Ludacris ranks third with 1.2 billion views. The most watched YouTube videos as of the moment are Psy’s “Gangnam Style” music video with 2.4 billion views and Swift’s “Blank Space” music video with 1.3 billion views while the music video of Eminem and Rihanna’s collaboration song “Love the Way You Lie” is at number 16 with almost 1 billion views.
In 2016, Bieber will star in “Zoolander 2” with Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Penelope Cruz, Olivia Munn, Will Ferrell and Ariana Grande, among others. Stiller directed the comedy sequel and co-wrote the screenplay with Justin Theroux, Nicholas Stoller and John Hamburg.
Recently, four extra dates were added to Bieber’s tour in the United Kingdom for his “Purpose” album. He is set to perform at the O2 in London on Oct. 14-15, 2016 and at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on Oct. 29-30, 2016, according to Independent.
