‘Ray Donovan' season 3 episode 10 recap: Ray helps Mickey sever ties with the Minassians

In the latest episode of “Ray Donovan,” Mickey (Jon Voight) was greatly worried about the Minassians, saying that he is as good as dead because they already know his face. In Season 3 episode 10 titled “One Night in Yerevan,” Ray (Liev Schreiber) dealt with Andrew Finney (Ian McShane), Ed Cochran (Hank Azaria) and Mickey’s predicament. [Spoiler Alert!]

Ray tried to protect his father from the Armenian mob. He went to Mickey’s apartment and kicked out the prostitutes. He also got rid of all the cocaine. Ray’s plan for Mickey was to bring in Lee Drexler (Peter Jacobson), his old employer. Ray got Lee to be Mickey’s legal representative, who said that Mickey is already senile and can no longer participate in Detective Sheila Muncie’s (Michael Hyatt) sting operation.

Cochran, in the meantime, was busy getting more evidence about Ray. He discovered that Avi (Steven Bauer) is Ray’s employee. When he found Ray, Cochran threatened to go after him. Meanwhile, Finney refused to be interviewed. Ray tried to warn Finney that they have to be cautious about Cochran.

At school, Bridget (Kerris Dorsey) knocked out a classmate and got suspended. This made Abby (Paula Malcomson) wonder what her real issues were and search her room. She found Mr. Donellen’s (Aaron Staton) pill bottle and talked to Bridget. Abby went to Donellen’s house and told him to quit his job and transfer. Donellen lied and told her that Bridget was the one obsessed with him.

Ray’s next move involved convincing the Minassians to let Mickey off the hook. He asked for the help of his Armenian pop star friend named Hasmig (“Person of Interest” star Sarah Shahi) who wanted to sing a political anthem about genocide. Ray made it happen by blackmailing Flip Brightman (former “Perfect Strangers” star Bronson Pinchot). The Minassian goons were about to attack Mickey when the pop star appeared and told them to back off. One of Mrs. Minassian’s (Grace Zabriskie) goons, however, spotted Mickey with one of Muncie’s agents and made the connection.

Afterward, Ray told Mickey to leave town. Cochran is also getting closer to knowing the truth. He found the fire poker that was used to kill Varick Strauss (Jason Butler Harner). He went to Finney to show him the murder weapon.

The next episode of “Ray Donovan” will show how Cochran will use his new discovery to his advantage. Will he finally have his revenge against Ray? Episode 11, titled “Poker,” will air on Sept. 20.

In related news, Entertainment Weekly revealed that Dash Mihok, who portrays the character Bunchy Donovan, will guest star in the next season of “Chicago P.D.” Mihok, who will reportedly appear in the third episode, will be reunited with “Ray Donovan” co-star Brian Geraghty, who plays the character Sgt. Roman on the NBC drama. In 2014, Geraghty portrayed the character Jim Halloran, a cop who got involved with the Donovans, particularly Abby.
