We still have to wait to see if Real Madrid manages to be the best club in Europe, beating Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final on May 24. However, what we have already come to know is that the most valuable football in Europe has been decided. It is Real Madrid.

According to Forbes list of the most valuable teams, Real Madrid outsmarts every other football team in the world. The total worth of the club is $3.44 billion. Cristiano Ronaldo, the winner of FIFA Ballon d'Or, is just one example of the talents the team takes pride in. Real Madrid posted revenue of $675 million for 2012-13, CNN reported. There was an operating income of $172 million.

Atletico Madrid, the team Real Madrid has to compete against in the Champions League final later in May, holds the 17th position in the list. Its value is estimated at $328 million. The financial value of the team clearly failed to have any influence on the league table as Atletico is on top of the league table, while Barcelona stands second and Real Madrid third. Atletico reached the finals of the Champions League for the first time in 40 years.

The second team in Forbes' most valuable list is Barcelona that has Lionel Messi who is often claimed to be the greatest footballer of the modern era. Barcelona is worth $3.28 billion. Manchester United, with star players like Wayne Rooney, stands in the third position with an estimated $2.81 billion in their piggy bank. German club Bayern Munich, which is the presently the European champion, has a valuation of $1.85 billion. Arsenal, which is at the fifth position of the list, is worth $1.33 billion.
