Real Madrid are reportedly working toward signing Kylian Mbappe after the completion of the ongoing Euros 2020.

Mbappe has been a long-term target of Real Madrid and the La Liga giants are trying to come up with a "specific strategy" that would finally see the French star moving to Santiago Bernabeu, reported Spanish publication Marca.

In the ongoing summer transfer window, Real Madrid have made Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland and Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) as their top targets, with the French forward's transfer being their priority.

It was recently reported that personal terms had been agreed between Haaland and Real Madrid. But Los Blancos were yet to reach an agreement with Dortmund over the Norwegian's transfer fee, which was expected to be around $209 million.

Even though Mbappe, who is currently on international duty at the Euros 2020, has been quiet about his future, Real Madrid want to seal the deal for him this summer. However, the 13-time Champions League winners are willing to wait and are banking on Mbappe to turn down an extension to his current contract with PSG, according to ESPN. Mbappe has just a year left in his deal with the Ligue 1 side.

PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez will then meet to negotiate a move that would see Mbappe move to the Spanish capital, the outlet reported.

As Mbappe's transfer fee is expected to surpass $119 million, Real Madrid are looking to create funds by offloading players such as Luka Jovic, Dani Cabellos and Brahim Diaz, according to the Marca report.

When Real Madrid attempted to sign Mbappe in 2017, the team was already boosted with playmakers such as Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo. However, now the situation is different and Mbappe would become the club's talisman almost immediately on his arrival.

Earlier this year it was reported that the Premier League champions Manchester City withdrew from the race to sign Mbappe because of the forward's humongous wage demands. The 22-year-old wants a weekly salary of $836,000.

Mbappe, who is believed to be the successor of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, has netted 132 goals and provided 61 assists for PSG, across all competitions, in four seasons so far.
