Former Chelsea and current Napoli manager Rafael Benitez believes Carlo Ancelotti is the perfect man to manage Real Madrid, believing the Italian football tactician is going to lead the Los Blancos to greater glory than his predecessor.

Benitez, who served as interim coach for Chelsea last season, continued to launch his attack at Jose Mourinho, telling everybody that Ancelotti is a better manager than the Portuguese tactician.

Benitez and Ancelotti formed a great relationship with each other after their previous squads, Liverpool and AC Milan, clashed in two Champions League finals in 2005 and 2007.

"I know him well from Milan because of the finals in Athens and Istanbul and we had a very good relationship when we were both in the Premier," Benitez told ESPN on Monday.

The former Chelsea coach thinks Ancelotti is good at controlling the situation inside the locker room as a leader - a character that Mourinho is heavily criticized.

"I think it's the correct choice because he will a conciliator in the dressing room and inside the club. I think the club will appreciate that change."

Benitez also explained the reason behind his refusal to join Real Madrid few years ago.

"When Madrid did call me several years ago, I was already committed to Liverpool; since then, they haven't called me," Benitez added. "You need to ask Florentino and his advisors how their selection process works."
