Qualitest Pharmaceuticals, unit of Endo Pharmaceuticals Holdings Inc., is voluntarily recalling multiple lots of birth-control pills because of a packaging error that could lead to incorrect dosing. The error may leave women without adequate contraception and risk for unintended pregnancy, the WebMed reports.

The pharmaceutical company said the error occurred when the tablet orientation was reversed. The pill was rotated 180 degrees within the card, thus, reversing the weekly tablet distribution.

This packaging error could cause the women to take the pills in incorrect order, leading to inadequate contraception and eventually lead to possible unintended pregnancy. Lot numbers and expiration dates on certain packages were also obscured.

The recall affects two Clyclafem products and two Gildess products, as well as Emoquette, Orsythia, Previfem, and Tri-Previfem oral contraceptives.

There are no other immediate health risks associated with this recall.
