A Recap of the 2011 MTV European Music Awards
As it is wont to be, MTV's European Music Awards was a wild time for anyone tuning in. Hosted by teen star Selena Gomez, with special participation from "Baywatch" star David Hasselhoff, the show went off without a hitch.
Gomez, by the way, seemed unencumbered by the current paternity allegations against her boyfriend Justin Bieber, who won for Best Male and Best Pop award this year. The couple kept mum about the case and performed quite well considering the pressure they both were under.
The biggest winner for the night was Lady Gaga. Dressed in what can only be described as a significant step down from her egg ensemble of the previous years but still wholly strange, Gaga accepted 4 awards -- Best Female, Best Song, Best Video, and Biggest Fan award.
That isn't to say that the "Born This Way" singer was the only multiple winner. Jared Leto's band, 30 Seconds to Mars, won for Best Alternative and Best World Stage while Bruno Mars' earned the Best Push and Best New Awards.
Other winners were Eminem for Best Hip-hop, Linkin Park for Best Rock, Katy Perry for Best Live and the Korean boy band, Big Bang won for Best Worldwide act. The night was topped off with the unparalleled Queen, honoured with the Global Icon Award.
Now any MTV award show wouldn't be complete without a few crazy moments and it came when a naked man ran onstage as Hayden Panettiere was on. The actress was rendered speechless as the man blustered onstage about something or another. The "Heroes" actress took it all in stride, even asking the man to join her for a pint after the show. Lucky, lucky naked man.
