'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date: Online retailer leaks delivery date
Rockstar Games has made it no secret that “Red Dead Redemption 2” will be released sometime in the last quarter of the year. But while no specific date has been revealed by the game publisher, an online retailer may have just drawn the curtains on this little piece of information.
Littlewoods, an online British store, is accepting pre-orders for "Red Dead Redemption 2." But while most other retailers do not have a delivery date set, Littlewoods does. The online retailer listed down Oct. 2, 2017 as its delivery date. Some publications have taken this to mean that the game itself will begin rolling out on the said date.
There are, however, several possible explanations for this. The premature posting of the official delivery date by Littlewoods could be a mistake or a simple estimate from the retailer. However, the latter is unlikely as authorised sellers -- no matter how small or geographically limited-- are likely told the release date ahead of time. Moreover, the release date coincides with Rockstar Games' original statements.
In addition, promotional material for "Red Dead Redemption 2" recently surfaced in a physical store in the UK. The materials, which included posters and design boxes, indicated an "Autumn 2017" release. As autumn falls within the last quarter of the calendar year in the UK, all things seem to be in line.

RDR2 has also pointed out that October will be a smart time for Rockstar Games to release "Red Dead Redemption 2." The year will undoubtedly be a good -- and busy one -- for games, but the month of October is not scheduled for any major release yet. The upcoming title could theoretically be the main focus of the gaming world for the month.
Rockstar Games has not provided further insight on "Red Dead Redemption 2," particularly in terms of storyline or gameplay. However, as the title's release draws nearer and nearer, it is expected that the game publisher will feed more information to the public.
