Reese Witherspoon Predicted To Win An Oscar For 'Wild'
Critics have been applauding Reese Witherspoon after the debut of her recent flick, 'Wild'. The actress has been gaining commendations from movie critics all over the world for her classic performance. In fact, some are even forecasting an Oscar for the actress.
The academy award winning actress has managed to surprise everyone with her unpretentious and realistic performance in the movie. The flick, directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, is a story of a spirited and carefree woman who hastily made a decision to embark on a backpack journey across the Pacific Crest trail alone.
The movie is an adaptation of Cheryl Strayed's autobiography, where Witherspoon successfully played a foul-mouthed, cheating, destructive woman. The woman is left shattered by her mother's demise and indulges in self-destructive behaviour, which eventually affects her marriage. She then decided impulsively to embark on a nature trip.
Entertainment Weekly further claims that 'Wild' is the creative rejuvenation for Witherspoon and a sensible career move for the actress after doing several mediocre movies. The report also declared that the actress is successful at shedding her old sunny image and played the role of a tough stubborn woman with grit.
HitFix also gives credit to Yves Belanger for the brilliant photography and Vallee for making such a ground-breaking movie. The tabloid also applauded the actress' decision to star in 'Wild' instead of 'Gone Girl', which she produced this year.
Although supporting actress Laura Dern, who played the lead character's mother, has also done a wonderful job, 'Wild' is undoubtedly a 'one-woman show'. Mick LaSalle of San Francisco chronicle claims that 'Wild' seems to be the completion of the journey taken by Witherspoon as an actress starting from 'Mud' where she played a perkier character.
