Reese Witherspoon was rushed to a hospital on Wednesday after being struck by a car while out for a run. The 35-year-old actress was hit in Santa Monica but was not seriously injured and is resting comfortably at home according to her rep in a statement to JustJared.com.

Police told E! Online that the car that hit Reese was going approximately 20 miles per hour. While she was jogging in Santa Monica yesterday morning, Reese Witherspoon was running through an unmarked intersection and was struck by a car when its 84 year-old driver did not slow down.

NBC L.A. spoke to Santa Monica Police spokesman Sgt. Richard Lewis. He said Witherspoon suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for medical treatment. She was released from the hospital a few hours later and spent the night at home. Lewis indicated that the driver of the vehicle was going 20 mph and was given a ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian.
