Queen Catherine and Mary watch King Henry and the soldiers leave to put down an uprising in Lorraine. Mary wonders why Bash has not joined King Henry while Catherine talks about men who always find a reason to kill. Mary is amused after hearing Catherine's talks and sees a blooming relationship between Catherine and her. Catherine corrects her that she is talking about Mary and Olivia, and how she has accepted Francis' love for Olivia.

Olivia tells Catherine that it is Mary that Henry loves and not her. In fact, Francis had called out Mary's name during the moment of passionate intimacy. Mary meets Francis where the latter chides about how he has more time to be in bed with Olivia. However, Francis tells her that their marriage is a tricky arrangement which can never happen. On the other hand, Francis is preparing himself for such a time to forget her when the time comes.

Diane tells Bash about her plans to make him legitimate. She is planning to make Catherine's marriage to King Henry annulled, which would make Bash the real successor to the throne. Bash does not want to step on his brother to get the crown. Before their conversation can proceed further, he is taken away by a solider of Count Vincent of Naples.

Count Vincent of Naples has arrived in the Castle to make a diplomatic visit. Soon, it dawns upon the hosts -- Queen Catherine and Francis -- that he is there to seek revenge for his dead son. He had waited in the woods for three weeks to see the departure of King Henry and his men before coming inside the castle. Count Vincent's son, Roberto, was taken hostage by King Henry's soldiers. He was released only after the Count had paid 1500 duckets. However, his only son had died of fatal dysentery before he could reach the border of Italy. Count tells that money won't give him satisfaction as he is the only one left in his family name line. Queen Catherine offers him to take Mary with him because she could bear him children. Francis objects to that and offers to take the heir of King Henry as hostage. Count of Naples does not take too long to take-up the offer of taking Francis back with him to Naples.

Bash tries to get out from the solitary dungeon, but fails and is chained again. However, the Count's soldier treats him well and has no intention to kill him. Mary tells Catherine about the secret passage out of the castle. There is a feast in the night, and Catherine tells Mary and her ladies that feast can be used as a distraction strategy to get Francis, women and children out of the castle. Mary's ladies find it difficult to trust Catherine. She assures them that her son's life is at stake and she loves him. Catherine says that she will be there in the room when they enter and she will still be there when they leave the room.

Olivia is put on the other side the door of the passage to open it when she hears one knock of Francis and two knocks of Mary. The secret passage door can be only opened from the other side. The feast starts and Catherine opens a box full of coins for the Count and his men. Francis manages to get away from his room where he leads women and children out of harm's way. Olivia opens the door of the passage and wants to leave with Francis. Yet, Francis asks her to stay for Mary of which she doesn't agree with but in the end stays in her spot.

Mary makes an excuse of having difficulty breathing because of her corset to get away from the feast along with her ladies. Even with the diversion, they get caught by a soldier of the Count after failing to go through the passage door. Due to such incident, Olivia has deserted her position out of fear. When Mary and her ladies return to the feast, Catherine drops the hour glass. She threatens Count that Henry will go to war with Italy and when the threat does not work, she asks him to take Mary and her ladies. The Count intends to take Francis but he has other plans in mind. Taking his best interests in mind, the Count is all set to rape Mary on the table. The men follow suit behaving rudely with Mary's friends. Luckily, blood starts coming out of the Count's men and they drop dead.

They have been poisoned. Catherine tells the Count that poison is an art and that the essence of poison is a surprise. The gold coins had the poison. Mary stabs Count and Francis arrives to chop of his hand. Later, Mary comes to Francis room, telling him that she cannot get sleep. Wanting to know more, Mary asked why Francis had risked his life by coming back from the passage. In all honesty, Francis tells her his true feelings that lead to a kiss and throes of passion. Francis asks Mary to tell him when to stop - Mary says, never.

Bash figures out it is his mother who has given the timing of Henry's depature to Count Vincent. He talks about Francis being his brother, while Diane reminds him that he is merely blood-related to family.
