‘Reign’ Season 3 Spoilers: Another epic romance after King Francis’ death, Episode 6 synopsis
It was not good news for the fans of King Francis (Toby Regbo) and Queen Mary (Adelaide Kane), as the former died on “Reign” Season 3 Episode 5. One of the creators of the historical fantasy romance TV series is confident that they will be able to fill the void left by King Francis’ death.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, “Reign” co-creator Laurie McCarthy said there will be another epic romance. However, she said, “I’m not promising that it’ll be an epic romance for Mary right away.”
According to McCarthy, there are other epic romances coming in “Reign” Season 3. One of these romances is between Queen Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten) and Robert Dudley (Charlie Carrick) in England.
McCarthy also pointed out that “Reign” is more than just about epic romances. She said she believes that the architecture of the series “can hold an epic romance but that that’s not all that the show is.”
After King Francis’ death, the dynamic between Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth is set to intensify as “suddenly, they’re both vying for the same men,” McCarthy said. She explained that Queen Mary will become more of a threat to Queen Elizabeth.
McCarthy explained that Queen Mary has to be in a political marriage whether or not it puts Queen Elizabeth in “more jeopardy.” She also said that King Francis’ death puts Prince Charles (Peter DaCunha) on the throne, which will shift the dynamic in France.
“Reign” Season 3 Episode 6, titled "Fight or Flight," airs on The CW on Friday, Nov. 20 in the U.S. The previous episode that featured the death of King Francis has improved the ratings of the TV series, according to TV by the Numbers.
Along with Kane, Skarsten, Dudley, Carrick and DaCunha, “Reign” Season 3 also stars Megan Follows as Queen Catherine and Torrance Coombs as Sebastian. Meanwhile, Regbo’s return to the small screen after playing King Francis in "Reign" has yet to be confirmed.
