'Reign' season 4 episode 4 spoilers: What to expect from 'Playing with Fire' episode
In the recent “Reign” episode, titled “Playing with Fire,” Mary failed to have the simple life she yearned for beside Gideon Blackburn (Ben Geurens). Knowing Queen Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten) would do anything to keep the queen of Scotland away from the throne, Mary had no other choice but to enter a more complex and political life, waiting ahead of her.
The official synopsis of the fifth episode states that Lord Darnley surprises Mary with a visit in Scotland. Mary sees a glimmer of a union that could be more than just political. Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten) fights to gain allies in her favour and Catherine (Megan Follows) must work to get Claude (Rose Williams) back on track by finding her a new husband. This synopsis was according to “Reign’s” Playing with Fire official YouTube trailer. [See video at the end of the article.]
It appears to be that the upcoming wedding between Queen Mary and Lord Darnley (Will Kemp) is not solely because of political reasons. It appears that the Queen of Scots have developed a new form of connection with her husband to be.
If the series would stay true to historical facts, fans could expect a new relationship between Queen Mary and Lord Darnley to slowly start to unfold. But with the previous betrayal that she experienced against someone dear to her, the Queen is still uncertain of the thought of trusting another person.
Mary's half-brother James (Dan Jeannotte) informed her of another betrayal that will happen soon. Minister John Knox (Jonathan Goad) is planning to turn the Scottish Catholics against their very own queen.
Also on the fourth episode, viewers can expect that Queen Elizabeth will also be making drastic moves. She will continue to gain more allies and build even stronger alliances. With the fact that there can only be one queen already obvious in the series, Queen Elizabeth will do everything in her power to keep the throne to herself and would do anything to keep Mary away from it.
The fourth episode will also continue following the necrophilia scandal of King Charles of France (Spencer Macpherson). The king’s secret is then discovered by Narcisse (Craig Parker). Charles’ mother, Catherine de Medici (Megan Follows), is later on met by Narcisse who then reveals the king’s atrocious secret. Catherine would later confront her son and ask for an explanation behind his act.
