Known for playing Queen Mary Stuart in The CW period drama series “Reign,” Adelaide Kane has almost half a million followers on Instagram. Recently, she took to the social networking site to show her fans what she claimed she looks like when it rains.

On Thursday, Kane shared a photo of herself, seemingly make-up free. She captioned the photo with, “When it rains I look about 12 #secretlyacat #apatheticcat #reign.”

While she plays a Scottish queen in “Reign,” Kane loves to share photos of some not-so-queenly moments of her daily life to her fans through Instagram. The actress born in Perth has to do away with her Australian accent when she plays Queen Mary Stuart in The CW show.

It turns out that Kane and Queen Mary Stuart have something in common. The Australian actress does have some Scottish heritage since her father is Scottish and her mother is of Scottish, French and Irish descent.

Kane has been playing Queen Mary Stuart in “Reign” for three years. The third season of the CW series premiered on Oct. 9 with an episode titled “Three Queens, Two Tigers.”

Before the “Reign” Season 2 finale, Kane talked about her character’s pregnancy. She joked with Just Jared Jr. that the answer to the question on whether the father of Queen Mary Stuart’s baby is Conde (Sean Teale) or Francis (Toby Regbo) will be revealed when the baby “comes out with dark hair and a tan instead of blonde and blue eyes.”

In an interview with E News, Kane admitted that some of the “more violent content” in The CW series was really surprising for her and required much preparation. She said that “Reign” Season 2 episode 9, in which her character was raped, was particularly very difficult for her.

Along with Kane, Teale and Regbo, "Reign" also stars Torrance Koombs, Celina Sinden and Anna Popplewell. Like Kane, Megan Follows also plays a queen in the period drama series.

Six years before starring in “Reign,” Kane joined the cast of “Neighbours,” where she played the role of Lolly Allen. At the time, Kane's family moved to Melbourne so it could be easier for her to film the Australian soap opera.
