The differences between both these phones are almost minimal and to get the Xperia Z2 for the slashed price is rather a big discount. The phone was released back in January and in July it saw the price come down by $50 but that was not a big discount when compared to the price that is offered today.
The Xperia Z2 offers a 5.2 inches full HD display with a 1,920 x 1,080p resolution of 424 ppi. It also comes with a 3 GB of RAM and a Quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor that clocks at 2.3 GHz.

Regarding the storage it has a storage capacity of 16 GB with extendable storage up to 128 GB. This smartphone is dust and waterproof up to 30 minutes under water and a power packed battery of 3,100 mAh and runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Android Headlines also state that the price cut could be because the Xperia Z3 is nearing its release in the U.S. But there is not much information regarding when the Xperia Z3 will be available in the U.S. However, the drop in the price of the flagship phone by 25 per cent is an indicator that Sony wants its stock cleared.
