Renowned Brit Trainer Peter Fury Says Pacquiao Won’t Stand A Chance Against Mayweather
The biggest fight in the history of boxing that everyone wants to see is still being talked about, but is there really a chance that Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. are going to step inside the ring together? Mayweather continues to declare that Pacquiao will never score a victory over him. Recently, renowned British trainer Peter Fury backs up Mayweather's claims and said that the eight-division Filipino world champion doesn't stand a chance against the undefeated boxer.
In an interview with On The Ropes Boxing, Fury shared his thoughts on the much-anticipated fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather. He said that Pacquiao wouldn't fare well with Mayweather and he's going to get beaten by the undefeated fighter.
"I don't give Khan, Pacquiao or anybody a chance against Mayweather because Mayweather is that much of an elite fighter," Fury said. "I think all these fighters should be very happy to share the ring with him and get a massive payday."
Fury added that he has been told that the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight will happen and will be announced one day. However, he is not certain if the bout will really take place.
According to Fury, Mayweather is an "elite fighter." The undefeated fighter from Grand Rapids has proven many times that he is one of the sports' all-time greats.
Mayweather has successfully protected his perfect record, having won all his 47 fights and winning 26 of those bouts via knockout. Fury said that no other fighters can be in the same league as Mayweather's.
Pacquiao has been pushing for a Mayweather fight since winning his fight against Chris Algieri in Macau. The Filipino boxing icon and Mayweather have taken jabs at each other on social media. The latest update on Mayweather-Pacquiao fight is that the American seeks two-thirds of the revenue from the potential fight, including gate receipts, fight purse and pay-per-view buys.
A source close to Mayweather has revealed to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated Mayweather's latest demand. Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum said it is far from the actual state of things. Arum said that he continues to get in touch with CBS Corporation, which is the parent company of Showtime, regarding the purse split.
