‘Resident Evil 7: Biohazard’ release date, news & update: Season Pass content, PS VR & horror theme discussed
“Resident Evil 7: Biohazard” will be available in multiple versions when it’s released on Jan. 24 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Capcom is reportedly building one version of the game that will be set in London. The developer has also challenged fans to experience it on Jan. 20-23. Steam has also revealed details about the Season Pass though price and individual release dates are yet to be confirmed. All DLC drops will be made available before Dec. 31.
According to IGN, “Resident Evil 7: Biohazard,” if they pick up the Season Pass will get Banned Footage Vol. 1 - Nightmare - Bedroom - Ethan Must Die and Banned Footage Vol. 2 - 21 - Daughters - Jack's 55th Birthday. Even though the titles do not give away much, it does not look good for both Ethan and Jack. The “Banned Footage” elements could be part of the VHS tapes motif though it is hard to determine what the “Additional Story Episode” will entail.
“Resident Evil 7: Biohazard” will be a total switch from all other titles in the franchise and is the seventh mainline entry in the series. The game will have a horror focus and will be played from a first-person perspective, writes Gaming Bolt. The game will likely be released with support for PS VR and the PC version will be region-locked. It won’t even feature the same characters as in previous games. The first-person perspective is to build on the horror theme.
According to Gadgets 360, the new protagonist Ethan Winters, a civilian, will be searching for his missing wife and will be lead to a Louisiana plantation where all kinds of horrors await. The PlayStation VR experience has been incredible, say experts. Capcom has also confirmed that there will be combat in “Resident Evil 7: Biohazard” along with other staples such as typewriter tapes and herbs for healing for saving progress.
“Resident Evil 7: Biohazard” will be using new technology known as the RE Engine and that comes with HDR support for PC, Xbox One S, PS4 and PS4 Pro. 4K support is also available for PS4 Pro and PC. There are rumours that the game may also be supported by Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
