British actress Ashley Madekwe will bid Revenge fans goodbye at the start of season 3.

"Yes it's true I'm leaving Revenge. I've LOVED playing Ashley Davenport but after 2 seasons there is no longer a story left for me to tell," she posted on Twitter on May 31.

This is sad news for many fans who think that Ashley deserves to stay given her story line's interesting twist toward the end of last season.

Earlier, news came out that her character would be unceremoniously cut off. Meaning, fans will just no longer see her when the iconic drama returns for its third instalment.

Ashley, however, clarified the rumours via Twitter and said "The Revenge writers are trying to come up with an exit story for Davenport and I will of course play that out for you all..."

If she had her way, the dark-haired stunner would rather exit in style. "My preference is that Ashley Davenport dies in a blaze of glory. Preferable whilst wearing Valentino couture...Or Chanel. I'm not fussy," she tweeted.

Her announced departure is both a surprise and a shock to show followers. When season 2 ended, none had an inkling that things would end so abruptly for the Brit beauty.

"Her allegiance (Ashley Davenport) will definitely be tested once more in season 3," she even promised the last time. Tunrs out even she had no idea of what was coming.

Anyway, we don't agree that her story line has reached the dead end. Unlike Declan who had very little going for him, Ashley has quite an unexplored territory. She has a back story with both Aiden and Emily that was not exploited last season. It should have been good to dig into it and build a storyline based on that association.

Now going back to how her exit should be, must it be via a death scene? It doesn't have to be. A quiet exit may be good as there's a chance for her character to recur in the future. But then again, she wants to go in a blaze of glory, so there.
