Reviews on 'Rebels: City of Indra' Written by Kendall and Kylie Jenner
Kendall and Kylie Jenner recently released their book, "Rebels: City of Indra." While fans are nothing short of ecstatic, the reviews from various book critics have not been friendly. Here is what reviews are saying on the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" stars' book release.
After two years, the Jenner siblings have finally released their book, "Rebels: City of Indra." According to Kylie and Kendall, it started off as an idea after seeing countless films that had knocked inspiration into them.
"It took us two years, so we've obviously been working on it for a while. It was awesome just seeing it grow," stated Kylie Jenner in a report by the Daily Mail.
For those who still haven't hear of the book, the synopsis is as follows (taken via Uproxx):
"Two cities... Two girls... A shared destiny..."
"In a world of the far future, the great city of Indra has two faces: a beautiful paradise floating high in the sky, and a nightmare world of poverty carved into tunnels beneath the surface of the earth. Kendall and Kylie Jenner, the youngest sisters in the Kardashian dynasty, have written a gripping tale of air, fire, and a bond of blood."
While the fans of the fashionable sibling have been nothing short of supportive for their novel, the reviews have been harsh.
"Kendall and Kylie Jenner are the names above the title on the new novel "Rebels: City of Indra," though the youngest members of the Kardashian clan didn't write it by all themselves (if they even wrote any of it). An inside page acknowledges that their manager, Elizabeth Killmond-Roman, worked on the book. And she brought in a co-writer, Maya Sloan, who has a few young adult titles under her belt. Four people to write one YA novel with a shopworn plot? Well, we are talking about the Jenners," reports the NY Daily News.
On Good Reads, the book has already been given a rating of 2.41 and the comments are also unforgiving.
"It is as awful as you'd expect it to be-the prose is stiff and dry. The characters aren't fleshed out and trying to get inside their minds is impossible," comments user Hayley Arens.
Given the reviews on their novel, should Kylie and Kendall simply stick to fashion were they are both best suited?
