Rey Mysterio Return To WWE Up In The Air After Vince McMahon Backstage RAW Meeting [VIDEO]
What went down backstage at Monday Night RAW between Rey Mysterio and WWE executives is still obscure for all the followers of the masked man. The outfit reportedly requested their talent to come back from his Mexican tour due to sub-par ticket sales. While Mysterio initially reneged on the idea, he eventually came to Buffalo, New York for a meeting and what transpired is still not being released to the public.
The high flying act may be on the fence on continuing his deal with the WWE or altogether scrap it. According to Mike Johnson of PW Insider, "Mysterio and WWE have not been on the same page for some time after Mysterio's WWE contract extended." Vince McMahon and his team extended the contract of the Mexican fighter to include time lost for injury recovery which did not sit well with the wrestler who did not give his clearance for the extension. Mysterio is reportedly looking forward to retirement and focus on other things in his life.
With his contract set to expire next year, the meeting could be an indication that Mysterio will be playing out the rest of his contract rather than go the route of CM Punk and resort to legal means to get out of his contract. The Inquisitor has already suggested this avenue and said that the Creative department has already mapped out a plan to re-introduce him soon. The said meeting was also in the positive direction as this is the first time in months that the masked fighter has gotten in touch with the mother outfit. He was last sighted at a recent Lurcha Underground television taping with his son Dominic in Los Angeles. The said appearance created much buzz as Mysterio appeared at rival company event.
With 20 years of wrestling experience under his belt, the walking away of the high flying act is seen by many as a simple case of burn out. The master of 619 is said to be pursuing a career in the Mexican film industry and to devote more time to his family. Until then , we wait and watch some of the highlights of his career with the WWE:
