Rick Grimes’ Death Won't Affect ‘The Walking Dead,' Show Will go On
"The Walking Dead" without Rick Grimes, well, fans must have never given that thought a thought. Can "TWD" survive without Rick portrayed by TV star Andrew Lincoln? Andrew thinks it is absolutely OK to kill Rick and the show can go on without the lead character.
Andrew Lincoln talked to press conference in Singapore last week, and shared about Rick Grimes' death in "The Walking Dead."
"I've always maintained that if and when I die, which is an inevitability in the show... as long as it pushes the story on, I'll go with it," said Andrew.
"The Walking Dead" is renowned for killing off major characters when fans have started loving them. It is "The Walking Dead's" USP to kill the character at critical junctures. Even though Andrew is all cool about Rick's potential death at some point, he wants him to stick around for a longer duration.
"I don't want to go just yet," said Andrew.
He also explained why his character must not die early.
"In the next eight episodes, you'll see a very different tone, pace and you'll be rewarded by it as well," explained the 40-year-old star, adding, "It's almost like a magnifying glass on the rest of the survivors."
"It's a really different back eight and if we continue to keep doing that, he (Grimes) has got a few years left," continued Andrew.
Comic book writer/executive producer Robert Kirkman was asked last year, if the group can survive without Rick.
"Yes, absolutely. We've been saying that no one is safe on this show, and I wouldn't rule out seeing the death of Rick Grimes at almost any point. We really like to keep people guessing, and I could definitely see some interesting stories coming from that," replied Robert.
It will be shocking if the writers at "The Walking Dead" think about Rick as a potential zombie dinner.
"The Walking Dead" season 4 starts February 9, 2014 with episode 9 on AMC.
