Ricky Nixon, former AFL player manager, was arrested Sunday morning for five offences including alleged assault against ex-fiancé Tegan Gould.

Nixon, 49, was taken to a hospital for "minor injuries" before he was arrested. He was discharged Sunday morning. He was bailed, and will appear before Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday.

Here are point-by-point details on the circumstances surrounding Nixon's arrest and charges:

- Nixon, 49, a known AFL-player-turned-high-profile-manager, was arrested after his ex-fiancé, Tegan Gould, called 000 for help over an alleged assault Sunday morning.

- He was last seen Saturday night at the opening of AFL celebrity Chris Judd's new nightclub. Sources said he left the club at about 2am.

- Nixon allegedly brandished a knife against Gould, 27, in a violent fight around 3am Sunday. They were at a Port Melbourne apartment in which they lived together.

- Nixon and Gould announced their engagement earlier this year, but broke up a month ago. They maintained contact, but she has reportedly moved out of his apartment.

- Gould reportedly sustained bruises to her face and neck as a result of the attack.

- Herald Sun quoted a spokesperson for the Victorian Police as saying: "Police were called to a Bay St property in Port Melbourne just after 3am... A 49-year-old was arrested before being taken to The Alfred hospital with minor injuries."

- Witnesses at the scene said Nixon appeared naked as he threw Gould's clothes down the stairwell of his apartment. Police had seen him going downstairs and ordered him to return to his apartment.

- Nixon tried to escape police officers who arrived at the apartment in response to Gould's call.

- Nixon was charged with intentionally causing serious injury, false imprisonment, assault with a weapon, escaping lawful custody and resisting arrest, Herald Sun reports.

- The AFL last year banned Nixon from taking on an agent-manager role for two years for an ''inappropriate personal relationship'' with a teenage girl.

- Nixon was arrested in February after an earlier violent attack also involving Gould. He was then fined and received a penalty notice for public drunkenness.

- In September last year, Nixon was questioned by police over an alleged attack against a guest at his home.
