Vin Diesel is back as Riddick, the pure muscle protagonist will take on a team of bounty hunters in a hostile planet filled with dangerous predators. The movie new is set to be released on 6 Sept in the U.S.

Fans will remember the previous movies where Vin Diesel took on a group of mercenaries in the movie "Pitch Black" and later went on to become the king of the Necromongers in the movie "The Chronicles of Riddick."

The 2013 movie titled just "Riddick" is reminiscent of the Pitch Black movie. The movie focuses on revenge by Riddick as he is stranded on a harsh planet being "betrayed." The time line of the movie is said to be after the other two Vin Diesel movies. There is also some mention about the home planet Furya.

Riddick is from Furya and the special knife of the Furyans can be seen in the movie trailer. The reason why he is betrayed and how he goes about escaping from the planet fighting off the bounty hunters and the aliens will be the main thrust of the movie.

There a few things which are different in the new Riddick movie. The alien creatures are a lot scarier with a scorpion like tale. They are seen emerging from some kind of an alien swamp and go about hunting the bounty hunters.

The other thing to notice in the trailer is that there is an alien dog that seems to be following Riddick around. Riddick has always been good with animals in the previous movie "The Chronicles of Riddick."

Recently Vin Diesel spoke about the new Riddick movie at the Comic-Con 2013. He conceded that the new movie was similar to the "Pitch Black" movie to some extent. But he pointed out that the movie when released at that time was a much smaller franchise and since then the popularity of the character has grown many fold.

Vin Diesel also talked about being inspired by the Dungeons and Dragons game when he was younger. The imaginary worlds created for the Riddick movies and acting in these settings perhaps need a bit of training of the imagination prowess.

The new Riddick movie comes after Vin Diesel has sat on the Necromonger throne for a few years. Sitting on the throne seems to be a boring life to Riddick, not to mention the fans. The protagonist is said to be "duped" and "left for dead" in the desolate planet.
