Science fiction shows and movies have become part of everyone's lives. For Ridley Scott however, sci-fi has a special place in his heart. Which is why he returns to the genre with "Prometheus."

After directing the action-packed space movie "Alien" in 1979 and the 1982 cyberpunk movie "Blade Runner" that redefined the genre of sci-fi, the director-producer returns home to space with "Prometheus." Many fans speculate that it is a prequel to "Alien."

The movie is about a team of scientists that discovers a clue to the origins of man, which will lead them to the darkest corners of the universe. They will meet strange creatures, some not unlike those aliens in the past.

Scott and the rest of the cast has not confirmed any of the rumors, but none of them are denying it as well.

"There's definitely a link to 'Alien'. There's creatures in it that you'll recognize," claims Michael Fassbender on the upcoming alien flick, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.

Michael Fassbender is an Irish-German actor best known for his roles as Lt. Archie Hicox in the Tarantino flick "Inglorious Basterds" and the 2011 superhero origin blockbuster "X-Men: First Class," where he played Magneto.

Recent projects include "A Dangerous Method" where he plays psychologist Carl Jung, Jane Eyre, and the critically acclaimed erotic drama by Steve McQueen, "Shame."

"I think people should really let go of the idea that it's an 'Alien' film," says Charlize Theron in Entertainment Weekly, stating that she is simply playing coy to the rumors, who still do not deny any "Alien" claims.

Charlize Theron broke through the mainstream Hollywood scene with movies like "Mighty Joe Young" and "The Devil's Advocate." She has acted in numerous films since then, including "North Country," where she received an Academy Award nomination, as well as "Monster," where she received critical acclaim and received an Academy Award for her portrayal of Aileen Wuornos.

Whether it is an "Alien" prequel or not, it is great to see Ridley Scott back to what he does best.

Prometheus is currently in post-production and is set to be released in summer of 2012.
