It has to be difficult getting back together with a former lover. More so if one is doing so under the glare of the spotlight and intense public scrutiny. Rihanna has reportedly been feeling the pressure on her relationship with Chris Brown.

The volatile pair officially got back together in late 2012, despite knowledge of likely public backlash. The Stay singer defended her decision to give Brown another chance in an interview with Rolling Stone.

"Even if it's a mistake, it's my mistake," Rihanna said. "After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I'd rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it."

However, the famous diva might be re-thinking the controversial choice now. An insider told Heat magazine that even Rihanna was shocked at the amount of trashing she has received because of her relationship.

"Rihanna has got used to antipathy towards her and Chris, but she can't ignore the fact that, since going public last week, it's increased massively," the source revealed. "She wasn't prepared for such intense disapproval."

The Grammys was the first big event that the couple attended together, and it garnered plenty of attention-both positive and negative. According to eyewitnesses, Rihanna had to sit through people shouting insults at her all night.

For fear of more hostility, the singer hid behind Brown as they arrived at an after-party in SupperClub.

At the launch of Rihanna's fashion line in London, she was attacked by a lone fan who threw a bottle at her causing the singer to fall and scrape her leg on the ground.

The backlash directed at the pair does not seem to be dying anytime soon. They are putting on a united front though, celebrating Rihanna's birthday in grand fashion with a Hawaiian getaway. In a recent interview with The Mirror, Brown said the couple is trying to move on from hard times saying they are "really happy."
