Rihanna hates the paparazzi in New Zealand more than she does the Nazis. The Barbadian pop superstar is being criticised for her rather cruel comparison in a photo she posted on Instagram.

The 25-year-old Grammy Award-winning singer was in Auckland as part of her Diamonds World Tour on Tuesday when she posted an Instagram photo of herself wrapped in a white blanket and sombrely looking outside the window of her hotel room in Auckland.

“I hate these ni**** more than the Nazi,” she captioned the picture, quoting a line from Kanye West’s track “Flashing Lights.”

But while some of her hardcore fans agreed with the singer, there are followers who thought that she has crossed the line with the Nazi comparison.

“Seriously? It doesn’t matter if it’s a quote or not. It’s a stupid thing to say, and it’s getting exactly the publicity for her that she would have wanted,” Instagram user mayleighhiller wrote.

One account holder named cleiriq was more candid with her observation, saying, “Stfu... without them you’re nothing.”

She may loathe Kiwi photographers, but Rihanna has a soft spot for her fans in the country.

“You are the perfect audience, the ideal. It makes me want to always come back here,” she told the crowd at her concert at the Vector Arena in Auckland on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Rihanna’s famous ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown, has opened up about that fateful night in 2009, in which he beat Rihanna so badly, leaving her with visible facial injuries.

He was subsequently arrested and charged with felony assault and making criminal threats.

In an interview with The Guardian, he described the “Rihanna incident” as “probably the biggest wake-up call.”

“I had to stop acting like a little teenager, a crazy, wild young guy,” he told the UK paper. “I learned from it, and it was almost like... I wouldn’t say it happened for a reason, but it was something to trigger my mind to be more of a mature adult. To handle myself in situations, don’t throw tantrums, don’t be a baby about it.”

They had dated on-off after the said incident, but ultimately called it quits in May 2013.
