After singing and dancing, Rihanna might just as well try her hands at acting. If the rumors are believed to be true, chances are that the "Bad Girl" might be seen as doing a naked dance with a banana-tutu dress when she will be cast to Joséphine Baker in a new biopic.

The film, based on the play "Josephine and I" is set for a 2014 release date.

Produce Lance W. Reynolds says "Rihanna is one of the most talented performers of this millennium and with her unique acting and performing abilities, I have no doubt she will bring Josephine back to life on the big screen."

Reynolds has earlier directed TV series "Rick & Steve the Happiest Gay Couple in All the World" and many other series on television including a 2003 Television movie "The Postcard Bandit." She was a dancer, a singer, an actress and an activist.

One look at Josephine Baker's famous picture where she has donned a skirt made of 16 banana peels and you know why the producer might have selected Rihanna who is quite confident in wearing similar outfits.

Rihanna's earlier acting career is not very impressive though. The singer started her acting debut with a movie in 2006 titled "Bring It On: All or Nothing" where Rihanna played herself. She didn't need any acting skills here.

In 2013, she starred in "This Is the End" for a brief role where she again starred as herself. Another movie this year titled "Battleship" where Rihanna is cast as Gunner's Mate Second Class (GM2) Cora Raikes, crew mate and a weapons specialist. Though the movie did not earn good reviews but she looked great in the role but had very little skills as an actress.

But you must be wondering who was Josephine Baker. Well she was an American born French dancer, singer, actress and an activist too. She earned great respect in the mid 90s for her international music and political career.

She was given such nicknames as the "Bronze Venus", the "Black Pearl", and the "Créole Goddess". Earlier actors to play Josephine Baker include Keri Hillson and Sonia Rolland. Beyonce has also portrayed Baker in "Dejá Vu." Do you think Rihanna will do justice to the character?
