Barbadian R&B singer Rihanna will be heading to Australia for a tour early next year.

The three-time Grammy winner will give Aussies in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Newcastle in February and March a taste of her Last Girl On Earth stadium production, according to promoters.

Born Robyn Rihanna Fenty, Rihanna last visited Australia in 2008. She is now on her European tour for the album R Rated, which has made more than 2.5 million copies in sales worldwide.

Tour promoter Michael Coppel Presents said in a statement that the show would bring in a full theatrical production, band, acrobats, dancers and music from all four of her studio albums.

Tickets will be available on August 20, while pre-sales will begin August 9.

Since 2006, Rihanna has already released four studio albums and earned nine Grammy nominations, winning three of them. She was hailed as the Favourite Female Artist at the American Music Awards for two years in a row.

She has announced last week that she would be making her acting debut in an action adaptation of children's board game Battleship.
