Rihanna knows how to raise the temperature and make heads turn. RiRi's shimmering attire she wore at 2014 CFDA Awards would likely be labelled - just too hot for Instagram. The singer showed it all as she grabbed the 2014 Fashion Icon Award at New York's Lincoln Cente.
The 26-year-old star took fashion to a whole new level as she arrived like a princess in a glittering dress.
According to E! Online, RiRi wore a fishnet slip dress that bared her nipples as well as her G-string. She paired the dress with sheer gloves that were elbow-length.
Rihanna also carried a fur stole and used it to cover her front. She happily posed for the photographers in that shimmering dress designed by Adam Selman. Apparently, a whopping 216,000 Swarovski crystals covered RiRi's body.
The singer bagged the coveted Fashion Icon Award at 2014 Council of Fashion Designers of America awards. CFDA awards also honoured the top designers.
Previous winners of Fashion Icon Award are Johnny Depp, Kate Moss, Nicole Kidman and Lady Gaga.
The 2014 edition of the awards also honoured designer Tom Ford with the lifetime achievement award. Bethann Hardison (ex-model and modelling agent) was given the Founder's Award.
Designer Zac Posen talked about Rihanna and called her a fashion risk-taker.
"She takes risks and she marches to her own drum and she knows what she likes," said Zac in an interview to The Associated Press (via CBS News).
The designer mentioned that it has been an incredible journey. He remembered meeting Rihanna at his studio before the launch of her debut album. He stated that she was a novice in the fashion world.
"But obviously she had looks and confidence and little-girl charm. All the ingredients were there for her to be a huge superstar: ambition, strength, and also vulnerability," said Zac.
He added that Rihanna respects designers and that is why they love to dress her.
