Rio 2016 Olympics: Brazilian diver quits team-up after synchronised partner kicks her out of room to have sex with canoeist
Besides the drama of competition and other interesting stories in the ongoing Rio 2016 Olympics, more anecdotes are being shared how human these athletes are interacting with each other. One such anecdote is the team-up of Brazilian synchronised divers who severed their ties because one of them kicked out the other allegedly to have sex with a canoeist.
The New York Daily News reports that the Rio summer games would be the last time Brazilian synchronised divers Ingrid Oliveira and Giovanna Pedroso team up after Oliveira kicked Pedroso out of the room in the Olympic Village. She wanted to have the room free from Pedroso because she allegedly wanted to have a late-night sex session with Brazilian canoeist Pedro Goncalves.
The tryst must have tired 20-year-old Oliveira so much that the two ended on the bottom in the 10-metre platform competition the following day. Their difference with the top placer, China, was more than 70 points.
After the event, Pedroso said she is quitting her team up with Oliveira. She would rather focus on being an individual diver because she does not need to depend on anyone, allowing her to further improve and evolve, O Globo reports.
Pedroso says, “I have been waiting for four years to be present at the Olympics and for her it was better to have fun and therefore threw me out of the room,” quotes The Sun.
But even before the lock out, the two synchronised divers had been at odds over Oliveira wanting to train more for individual dives, while Pedroso preferred to focus on synchronised dives.
Goncalves, the alleged lover of Oliveira, refused to comment on the incident because he does not want to open up his personal life.
