After meeting in the final of a recent tournament, both Rafael Nadal of Spain and Roger Federer of Switzerland both have climbed in the latest update of the ATP rankings.

Federer took over Andy Murray of the United Kingdom for the World No. 2 slot while Nadal climbed to the World No. 6 spot, previously held by Kei Nishikori of Japan.

Federer improved to 58-9 for the current ATP season while Nadal is at 56-18. Federer recently beat Nadal, 6-3 5-7 6-3 in the championship round of the 2015 Swiss Indoors Basel in Basel, Switzerland winning over his rival in front his home crowd.

Before the start of the Basel tournament, Federer and Nadal ranked World No. 3 and No. 7, respectively. This was Nadal’s lowest in years as he moved out of the elite group recently with rivals Novak Djokovic of Serbia, Murray and Federer all maintaining their standing among the top four in tennis in recent months.

Between the two, Federer has been the more consistent player winning six titles in the 2015 ATP season in Basel, Cincinnati, Halle, Istanbul, Dubai and Brisbane. Nadal has won three titles, in Hamburg, Stuttgart and Buenos Aires, two of which from a clay court, his specialty.

With the Grand Slam tournaments, Federer has also been more successful than Nadal. Federer made the finals at the US Open in New York and Wimbledon Championships in London and quarterfinals of the 2015 Roland Garros in France. Nadal has made the quarterfinals at the Australian Open and French Open but got eliminated early in Wimbledon and US Open.

Overall, Federer has the higher earnings in 2015, winning $6,578,029 (AU $9.20M) while Nadal has earned about half or $3,098,274 (AU $4.34M) via the ATP’s official website.

Meanwhile, Djokovic is still the best player in the world moving to fifth all-time for most weeks at No. 1 in the ATP Rankings spending time at the top spot for 171 consecutive weeks. However, Djokovic is still far from Roger Federer’s record of 302 weeks straight as World No 1, which is fourth all-time.
