'Riverdale' Season 1 Episode 2 spoilers: New facts about Jason Blossom’s death pressures everyone in town

“Riverdale” premiered on Jan. 26, 2017 on The CW, featuring a grittier and darker take on the popular Archie Comics characters. From the beginning, “Riverdale” immediately showed that it was moving towards a completely different direction, in terms of the storyline, although most of the characters remained very close to their comic versions.

“Riverdale” Season 1 Episode 1 started with the mysterious death of Jason Blossom (Trevor Stines). The story introduced the various characters, namely Archie Andrews (K.J. Apa), Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart), Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes), Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Patsch), Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse), and other beloved figures from the classic comic series.
In “Riverdale” Episode 1, it was revealed that Archie had a summer fling with his teacher, Geraldine Grundy (Sarah Habel). Veronica had just arrived in town, while Betty was trying to take her friendship with Archie to the next level. The darker aspects of “Riverdale” followed, revealing that Veronica’s father was involved in a financial scandal, how Archie and Grundy may have knowledge about the death of Jason, and Betty’s psychological secret.
“Riverdale” also featured variety in its roster of characters, including the homosexual Kevin Keller (Casey Scott) and Moose Mason (Cody Kearsley), the Asian version of Reggie Mantle (Ross Butler), an African-American Pop Tate (Alvin Sanders) and Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray), among others.

Archie will plead with Miss Grundy to share what they heard at Sweetwater River, although it could also uncover their taboo relationship. Betty will try to fix her relationship with Archie, but thinks differently of Veronica, who will also try to make up for kissing Archie.
Next in “Riverdale,” Cheryl will try to deal with the pressure. Jughead will accidentally discover a secret about Archie. In the meantime, Josie and the Pussycats prepare for their annual fall pep rally performance.
