'Riverdale' season 2 update: Betty Cooper getting hands dirty fixing pickups with Jughead Jones
"Riverdale" fans continue to ponder on what lies ahead for season 2, though there have been new teasers on social media. With plenty to digest following the finale of season 1, there are plenty of plotlines left for the next season to pick up from. The main cast do have their own storylines, particularly the celebrated relationship between Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) and Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse).
For those who followed the Archie comics, a Betty-Jughead relationship may be a bit off. Betty was best known for going after Archie Andrews, though most of that was initially seen when "Riverdale" season 1 started. Jughead, on the other hand, was known for sleeping and eating at any given moment. The case is different in the TV series.
It seems that showrunners are set to infuse familiar scenes from the comics. Thanks to a Twitter post by @ArchieComics, an image showing Betty helping out Jughead fixing a truck was released online. Captioned "Jughead and Betty hard at work on Season 2 of #Riverdale," it seems that Betty will be reprising her other talent in the comics.
Based on the characterisation of Betty so far on "Riverdale," it could make a bit of sense. From the image, it seems to be the pickup belonging to Jughead’s father, FP Jones (Skeet Ulrich). It may not be much for fans who are more inclined to see the main plot. Then again, it could hint at the more individual talents of the characters; hopefully stuff that they are best known for.
Other than that, there are expectedly more to expect from "Riverdale" season 2. Jughead could end up gulping down hamburgers similar to the comics, and there is the brewing romance between Archie (KJ Apa) and Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes). With Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos) joining in, expect some rough sailing between the two lovebirds (with some twists).
With no official release date for "Riverdale" season 2, expect fans to prowl for bits and pieces and figure out what producers have in mind. The Lodges are in focus this time around, and there is reportedly a dark storyline for Archie when the second season kicks off.
