Robert de Niro set to portray fraudster Bernie Madoff in TV biopic
Madoff’s life has been detailed in a book written by a New York Times reporter, Diana Henrique titled “The Wizard of Lies: Bernie Madoff and The Death of Trust”.
Veteran actor Robert de Niro has signed up to play the role of his former neighbor, a conman and fraudster, Bernie Madoff.

The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting that de Niro has agreed to play Madoff for TV biopic. The 56-year-old fraudster is now serving a 150-year prison term after he was convicted for stealing billions of dollars from his prominent and wealthy clients.
Some of Madoff’s victims include actors John Malkovich, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick. Even Zsa Zsa Gabor did not escape Madoff’s charm and the ailing actress was also among his victims. Madoff has been serving his term after he was jailed in 2009.
The biopic is set to be aired on HBO. De Niro and Madoff were once neighbors according to the SMH in the luxury New York vacation retreat at the Hamptons.
