He may be considered as the 'godfather' of mobster themed movies, but for others, Robert DeNiro is the 'godfather' of Japanese cuisine.

This classic star of Hollywood is one of the owners of the "Nobu" chain of restaurants and will head to Perth by March of 2012 to attend its official opening in the region.

The spokesperson from Burswood confirmed this that the official ceremony for the restaurant branch opening will happen in the middle of March 2012. The representative was so sure about it since the actor has not missed any formal opening of the chain of restaurants under Nobu.

Not only is he active in attending such formal ceremonies, but he also contributes a lot in directing the creative route of the entire team for all Nobu restaurants that total to 25 all over the world. Not many know that this two time Academy winner is also a passionate and enthusiastic food lover.

He has been partners with Matsuhisa way back in 1994 to start a very lucrative business and its celebrity partnership led to the flagship restaurant based in New York.

The entire chain continues to receive high acclaims along with getting five Michelin stars for its service in Vegas and in London. The classic star has visited Australia often since their very first restaurant opening in Melbourne.

It was also just last year when he got to film some scenes for the movie 'The Killer Elite.'

The Nobu Perth has even started its service since September 5 and DeNiro is reported to fly to Australia for the traditional cracking of the barrel filled with Sake.

Cheers to DeNiro!
