How much it takes to be the highest-paid actor in Hollywood? This year, the awesome number is $75 million making Robert Downey Jr. the highest paid actor of 2013 in Hollywood.

Robert John Downey, Jr. (born April 4, 1965) is an American actor who made his screen debut at the age of five, appearing in his father's film Pound. He starred as the title character in the 1992 film Chaplin, earning him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor.

His more recent films include "The Singing Detective", "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang", "A Scanner Darkly", "Gothika", "Zodiac" and "Tropic Thunder". In 2008, Downey played the role of Marvel superhero Tony Stark / Iron Man in the live action film "Iron Man", a role he reprised in "Iron Man 2", "The Avengers", and "Iron Man 3". In 2009, he played the title character in Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes" and again in 2011's "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows".

His massive income saw him top Forbes annual list of highest paid actors ahead of Channing Tatum and Hugh Jackman who came second and third respectively.

Though Forbes points out that Downey had a long history of failure in the years before he went superhero, his franchises ("Iron Man" and 'The Avengers") are proven box-office winners - and the actor's bank accounts show it. The list looks only at estimated earnings, unlike the magazine's other rankings; their power list, for example, takes into consideration factors like social-media visibility.

Robert said that he was honoured to be part of the Avengers project, even if he was part of the expensive sale of comic company Marvel to mass media conglomerate Disney. "I feel like I got sold to Disney for $4 billion dollars," he said.

"It's been very humbling because I always realise that you're just kind of part of this thing, you know?" he said. "And I think the problems begin when any one person involved in particularly anything that's successful decides that they have some sort of ownership to it, because really, this is something that Stan Lee scratched down going on, what, 50 years ago
