Robert Downey Jr Tops Forbes’ Highest Paid Actor List, Hugh Jackman At 3rd
Robert Downey Jr is a "hit machine," or so the Forbes magazine calls him. And it's hard not to agree with it since all of his recent films have all crossed the $500m mark at the worldwide box office. And that's why he was easily named as the Highest Paid Actor in Hollywood, with Australia's own Hugh Jackman making it at the third spot.
According to Forbes' list, Robert beat out his colleagues in the cash department, earning a cool $75 million in just one year. He was able to bring two of his films, "The Avengers" and "Iron Man 3," over the $1 billion mark just by appearing in them.
However, he only ranked 20th on Forbes' Celebrity 100 list, which is based on both earnings and fame. Hugh, on the other hand, outranked him on that because he had a much high social media ratings than the U.S. actor.
Hugh, who stars in "The Wolverine," ranks third on the Highest Paid Actors list with $55m estimated earnings. A lot of that wealth came from his current film.
Sandwiched between Robert and Hugh is Channing Tatum, who earned an estimated $60m. And while his good points rest on his looks and dance skills, Forbes didn't discount the fact that he is also a businessman. He financed his own film "Magic Mike" with director Steven Soderbergh, allowing them to rake in big profits.
At fourth place is Mark Walhberg with $52m (thanks to his hit comedy "Ted"), and at fifth is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson with $46 million.
The list, by the way, was compiled by the magazine by talking to people in the industry to estimate the earnings for each star between June 2012 and June 2013. The taxes, agent fees, and other costs weren't deducted.
Rounding up the top 10 are Leonardo DiCaprio, Adam Sandler, Tom Cruise, Denzel Washington, and Liam Neeson.
