Robert Pattinson Jokes About Playing Christian Grey in ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Movie
British actor Robert Pattinson made his fans scream in excitement after he revealed in his recent interview with MSN that he is playing the part of Christian Grey in the film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey".
After the culmination of The Twilight Saga with the release of the final film last week, there is a renewed interest on which film will follow the footsteps of the popular teen series. "Fifty Shades of Grey" is up for the running in becoming the next Twilight.
The "Breaking Dawn" actor made the 'announcement' in a recent interview with MSN. The star got asked the inevitable question as to whether he would be taking on the elusive Mr Grey. In a serious tone, the actor replied, "I am playing that part."
"I also wrote the book," he quickly added before bursting into laughter.
This is not the first time Rob joked at the rumors he is in the running for the part. The Mirror asked the actor once if he had even read the book, the actor answered, "It's funny seeing all these other actors so openly vying for it. I've never seen that happen before. I've only read bits of it. There's a book called 'Fifty Sheds Of Grey,' just a picture book of 50 grey sheds. I think that's more my thing."
"Fifty Shades of Grey" is an erotic novel that started as Twilight fan fiction. The characters of Edward Cullen and Isabella Swan served as an inspiration for the characters of Christian Grey and Anastacia Steele.
However, James pulled her work from the fan fiction page due to its popularity as well as the sexual nature of her work. She then developed a trilogy. The first book was followed by "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed."
After publishing her work, the novel now passed the 20 million mark and has a growing fan base. The erotic trilogy already outsells Harry Potter in Amazon UK. Moreover, a lot of people are interested on who will complete the cast for this controversial project.
The author initially told in a statement that Twilight couple Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson will not be casted in the film. Matt Bomer, Ian Somerhalder and Colins Egglesfield are rumored to be playing the role of Christian Grey.
