Robert Pattinson debuted new shorter haircut on the red carpet of the 2014 Cannes Film festival, where his movie "The Rover" is competing. The 28-year-old wore a mint-green jacket over a stylish black t-shirt and grayish-black denims. Fans, especially girls, were seen surrounding the actor in huge numbers for pictures and autograph and Robert was cool enough to oblige them politely.

However, various media outlets and even certain fashion magazines (read Cosmopolitan) did not like the way the "Twilight" hunk carried himself at the Cannes and went ahead to call Robert's look "awkward."

Robert looks like "a 37-year-old dad who's desperate to look dapper and cool," metro.co.uk is reporting. "We're sad. Come on Rob give us something to stare at when we're bored at work please...," the Web site reported.

"Robert Pattinson has been one of the most lusted after men in the world since he played vampire Edward Cullen in Twilight, but, judging by these photos of the actor at Cannes Film Festival, he's looking, err, quite a bit less hot," the Web site added.

According to Cosmopolitan magazine, Robert Pattinson looked "red carpet" shy and "embarrassed."

"At the first photocall for The Rover which premiered today, May 18th, Roberto looked a tad uncomfortable in front of the crowds and photographers in his really rather lovely green jacket," the Web site reported.

Robert Pattinson even wore stylish black sunglasses and took them on and off at various occasions. He cut a stylish figure where the actor looked fresh, neat and definitely different from his "Twilight" days. Could the new look be because of the fact that Robet has now grown up and moved way past his Edward Cullen days and wants to remove the image of a vampire? The actor is now doing serious roles and is quite appreciated for them too.

"The Rover" is one of the most looked forward films of 2014 which is based on the story of a guy who follows a gang of car thieves who happened to steal his car from an Australian town. The movie will also be shown at the Sydney Film Festival on June 7 and will see a world wide release only on August 22, 2014.

RPatz has two movies which will be screened at the prestigious 2014 Cannes Film Festival. His other movie is directed by David Cronenburg and is called "Maps To The Stars." Check out his latest Cannes pictures in the slideshow above.
