Have you ever wondered why Robert Pattinson opened his arms to Kristen Stewart and embraced the love of his life even after the devastating cheating scandal that brought down one of the most “immortalized” love affairs of all time in Hollywood?

Because Rob knows why Kristen cheated on him and he has no room to blame his beloved former co-star and lover for what had happened between them.

Now, a source told a news Web site that Kristen had looked the other way because of her own insecurities, stemming from her own home.

Talking to HollywoodLife.com, an unidentified friend close to Rob revealed that Kristen’s own family may have caused the downfall of Robsten romance. It was her fear of intimacy that caused the love of her life.

“Rob is well aware of why Kristen cheated on him. He understands that it wasn’t because of a lack of love. It was more so a fear of intimacy on Kristen’s part,” the source said, according to HL.

The source continued alleging that the fall of Robsten romance could be attributed to Kristen’s parents and their failure to keep their marriage work, giving as context of the cheating scandal when Mum Jules filed for divorce in August 2012. It will be recalled that everyone in Tinsel town got the shock of their lives when Us Weekly published in July 2012 the photos of Kristen being embraced by a film director, Rupert Sanders.

“Everyone takes on different experiences from their upbringings,” the source noted.

Kristen may have been a victim of her own family’s circumstance and the young, promising star has been paying the price since then. She has owned up to her mistake and apologized to Rob shortly after.

“This momentary indiscretion has jeopardised the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry,” Kristen was quoted as saying by The Sun, noted in a separate IBTimes-AU separate report.

Rob had forgiven her for the cheating scandal and took her in once again. They were seen getting cozy at her L.A. home last October 2012, one month before the premieres of "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2" in November 2012.

But they were not able to go back to the way things were and Rob felt it was best to let it go, leaving his lover and best friend.

“The toughest thing for Rob was the betrayal, and losing his best friend,” the source added.

The cheating scandal also affected Rob and how he viewed relationships. It made Rob less trusting and non-committal. But the hopes are still high for both of them, even separately.

“[Rob] will trust again. But right now, a relationship isn’t what he’s looking for,” the source noted.

Rob and Kristen were reportedly trying to get up from the separation with each both trying to focus on their work. Kristen is busy filming Peter Sattler’s "Camp X-Ray" while Rob is filming David Cronenberg’s "Maps to the Stars." And Kristen is trying to find her way beyond the big screen with reports that she has enrolled to the University of California Los Angeles to study English Literature.
