FKA twigs wins Fashion Innovator Award
Robert Pattinson's fiancee FKA twigs won the British Style Fashion Innovator Award at the British Fashion Awards in London on Monday night.
Twigs, who is known for her quirky sense of fashion and sometimes controversial style (thanks to her Christopher Kane dress at the MET Gala that had male private part on it) was present at the ceremony without her fiancé Pattinson. The 27-year-old British singer was dressed in a shiny black and yellow outfit.
The “Glass &Patron” singer has established herself in the entertainment industry not only as a successful singer but also as a style icon, with American Vogue calling her a “force of fashion.” She was also interviewed and featured on the cover of various fashion magazines including V and Wonderland.
Also present at the show, which took place at London Coliseum, were some of Hollywood's most fashionable A-listers including David Beckham, Lewis Hamilton and Orlando Bloom. British model Jourdan Dunn, 25, was crowned model of the year at the ceremony while JW Anderson took home the gongs for top menswear and womenswear designer, ITV News writes.
Stella McCartney won the Brand award and German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld was honoured with the Outstanding Achievement Award.
“Karl Lagerfeld defines outstanding. He is the champion of excellence, the master of the exceptional and one of the most iconic figures globally from our industry,” Natalie Massenet, chairman of the British Fashion Council said about the 82-year-old, Telegraph writes.
“His life's work for his own and so many extraordinary brands has written the language of fashion. He is the ultimate visionary and we celebrate not only the decades already passed but those yet to happen. In Karl's hands the future of fashion will be an exceptional one.”
Meanwhile, Alessandro Michele for Gucci took home the The International Designer award and Mary Katrantzou was named New Establishment Designer. The gala event was also attended by “X-Factor” judges Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Tinie Tempah, Sir Philip Green, Lady Gaga and Naomi Campbell were also present.
