The Rock Diet: How to Get Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Hercules’ Body
Not every wrestler becomes successful in Hollywood. In fact, Dwayne Johnson is one name which stands out in both Hollywood and WWE where he has gained iconic fame as The Rock.
Dwayne played a mugger in his first feature film Longshot. Then he played The Scorpion King in The Mummy Returns and then he had his first film as the hero in The Scorpion King. His next film Hercules, where he plays the title role, is highly significant for his fans as this may be one of the very few last occasions they will see him in a feature film. He has recently indicated that Fast & Furious 7 might be his last feature film. However, as long as he is still working on his films, he is apparently leaving no stone unturned to achieve the desired look for the portrayal of the mythological hero Hercules.
Puritans may wish that he works equally hard for his acting skills as he works for his body. According to veteran Indian actor Naseeruddin Shah, "building up muscles is not exactly working hard on your acting." We have to wait to see how well he acts in the film but, for the time being, he does not hesitate to share his diet with his Instagram followers.
Dwayne has apparently followed a "Herculean" diet to build the perfect look for the character. If you wish to follow a similar diet, here goes the chart.
Meal 1
10 OZ filet with 4 egg whites, 5 OZ oatmeal or cream of wheat, measured dry
Meal 2
8 OZ chicken, 2 cups white rice, 1 cup broccoli
Meal 3
8 OZ halibut, 2 cups white rice, 1 cup asparagus
Meal 4
8 OZ chicken, 12 OZ baked potato, 1 cup broccoli
Meal 5
8 OZ halibut, 1½ cups white rice, 1 cup asparagus
Meal 6
8 OZ filet, 9 OZ baked potato with salad
Meal 7
30 grams casein protein, 10 egg whites, scrambled with onions, peppers and mushrooms
*1 cup Nemean Lion blood upon rising, served fresh and warm
In case you're wondering if you'll find Nemean Lion blood in Walmart, you may not have got Dwayne's joke. He mentioned about the monster in Greek mythology that was killed by Hercules.
Dwayne followed this diet every day for six months. If you think you'll fail to follow the diet so religiously for such a long time, do not worry. The Rock diet may not be for regular mortals.
Hercules is set to release on July 25, 2014.
