Rock In Rio Las Vegas Line-up Announced: Taylor Swift, Metallica, No Doubt, Linkin Park And More To Perform
Las Vegas is the venue for the 2015 Rock in Rio music festival. The very happening U.S. city will have equally interesting rock bands and musicians to do justice to the event. The initial line-up includes Taylor Swift and Metallica who will enthrall the audience in Las Vegas at the splendid four-day event.
Other music acts expected to perform at the event include No Doubt, Linkin Park, The Deftones and John Legend. The Rock in Rio fest is expected to make its debut in the U.S. on May 8 -9 and May15 -16. The line-up was announced at New York's Time Square on Friday where musician John Mayer enthralled the audience with a surprise performance of two live songs. Mayer was also joined by Brazilian metal band Sepultura and French industrial percussion band Les Tambours Du Bronx to celebrate Rock in Rio festival's 30th anniversary and its debut on American shores.
"We're thrilled to see the construction of our first U.S. City of Rock and to announce the first artists who will perform in Las Vegas in May 2015," said Roberta Medina, EVP of Rock in Rio in New York.
Also present at the event was Las Vegas-based band No Doubt, who are also expected to perform at the Rock in Rio festival that was launched in 1985. The music festival is usually held in three cities, namely Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, Lisbon in Portugal and Madrid in Spain. Looking at its popularity, the organisers have planned to introduce the festival to Las Vegas for the first time in 2015.
According to a press release, casino company MGM Resorts will reportedly build a 33-acre open-air, five stage venue on the Las Vegas Strip for the event. The 2015 Las Vegas event will be jointly organised by MGM Resorts International, Cirque du Soleil and Ron Burkle. Touted as one of the "largest music festival in the world," Rock in Rio attracted 1.5 million people in its first edition alone.
The organisers of the music festival have opened the tickets for a limited pre-sale event and the interested music lovers can book their tickets through rockinrio.com/tickets. The general admission weekend passes are priced at $298, while $498 is the rate for the VIP daily passes.
