Roger Federer is definitely trying to salvage and get back to his old winning form. While some tennis athletes try to take advantage of the off-season, Federer has been resting, recharging, and been doing a lot of training.

Federer has been working so hard in Dubai, even without a coach, to get himself ready for the season's opening at the 2014 Brisbane International.

He parted ways with Coach Paul Annacone in the latter part of the 2013 season. Annacone only has good words to say about the tennis superstar. "Roger is not desperate or panicking," said Annacone. He also stated Federer's relentless pursuit of excellence is like a 23-year-old. Federer turns 33 in Aug.

He began training in Dubai to condition himself to do well in the upcoming season. He has high hopes that he will be able to put up outstanding performances against the best players in the tournament.

"Getting ready for a great summer in Australia," he wrote on Twitter with a picture of him training in the tennis court. "Excited to be starting at @BrisbaneTennis for the first time," Federer added.

The 17-time Grand Slam Swiss champion leads an all-star lineup for the forthcoming 2014 Brisbane International. World No. 1 and defending champion Serena Williams will also lead one the strongest women's group ever put together for such event, which includes Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova among others.

Federer's appearance for the 2014 Brisbane International Tournament is his first, and he is no doubt very excited about it.

"I've heard so many great things from other players," Federer said during an interview with the organisers. "They say it's a friendly tournament, fan friendly, player friendly," he added. "What else do you expect to be quite honest, in Australia you guys do great work," said Federer.

Federer also revealed that he had always wanted to come and play at the Brisbane tournament and he is really delighted that they were able to make it happen.

After the Brisbane International, Federer is headed for the Australian Open in Jan. at Melbourne Park, and he is positively looking forward to also do well and deliver an amazing performance for the Australian Open. On Sunday, he had a question and answer interaction with his followers on Twitter. A fan asked him what would be his choice if he could pick a next slam title. "Working overtime so it happens at the @AustralianOpen," Federer quickly responded.

It is no secret that Federer had a not-so-good 2013 season, but he is, without a doubt, one of the greatest players of all time. It will be in no time before Federer can get another Grand Slam title.
