According to the tournament director Cameron Pearson, the lineup was one of the strongest in the history of the event and they are looking forward to meeting the world's greatest players to Queensland Tennis Centre.

The former World No. 1 and 17-time Grand Slam Champion is ecstatic to be playing at Brisbane 2014. "I really hope to be playing my absolute best in Brisbane," Federer told Tennis World.

Having had a tough season in 2013, Federer is conditioning his body for a massive comeback. He has consistently been training and even sharing his recovery efforts on his official social media accounts.

"Doing some fitness training ahead of @brisbanetennis that starts December 29th," he wrote on Facebook with a video of him training in the tennis court. "Can't wait to play in Queensland," he added. Earlier this week, he also tweeted about having a training session with retired professional athlete and also former World No. 1 Stefan Edberg.

"Stefan Edberg just finished doing a training week with me and my team," Federer tweeted. "It was great spending time with one of my childhood heroes," he wrote.

Federer does not have a coach right now, after letting Paul Annacone go. There are rumours that Edberg might take over Annacone's previous post.

Edberg has expressed his feelings about the possibility of coaching Federer and said he welcomes the idea. "It is a matter for us to find time to fit it in," Edberg told Stockholm's Svenska Dagbladets. Edberg said he would be more than happy if it will happen. He revealed that he was quite surprised when Federer asked him to have a training session with him because it has been a long time since he last played tennis. He played and lost against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in an exhibition match held in Doha, Qatar in January 2012. Edberg said that Federer wanted to get some advice and analysis from him.

This would be the first time that Federer will play in Brisbane and he's certainly training hard to clinch his first-ever title in the said tournament.
